Rochina rides to the rescue for Rovers

Blackburn striker Ruben Rochina eased the pressure on Rovers boss Steve Kean as his late equaliser rescued a dramatic 3-3 draw at Leeds on Saturday.

Kean's side looked set for their first defeat of the season after they blew a two-goal lead to trail 3-2 with only six minutes remaining at Elland Road.

But Rochina rode to the rescue with the equaliser to preserve Blackburn's unbeaten start to the Championship campaign and lift the Lancashire club into second place.

After last season's chaotic relegation from the Premier League and the pre-season claim by Shebby Singh, Blackburn's global advisor, that the club's Indian owners would sack Kean if he loses three successive matches, the spotlight is firmly on the Rovers' boss.

Scotland striker Jordan Rhodes was handed his Blackburn debut after his ?8 million move from Huddersfield, and his presence seemed to inspire Rovers as goals from Markus Olsson and Nuno Gomes put the visitors 2-0 up early on.

But former Blackburn forward El Hadji Diouf got one back for Leeds in the 41st minute and Ross McCormack equalised 11 minutes after half-time.

Argentine striker Luciano Becchio fired Leeds ahead in the 65th minute before Rochina's clever backheel salvaged a point.

Nottingham Forest, backed by wealthy Kuwati owners, are intent on mounting a serious promotion challenge this season and they moved into third place with a 2-1 win over Charlton at the City Ground.

Lewis McGugan scored for the second league game running to give Forest a 17th-minute lead and on-loan Chelsea defender Sam Hutchinson netted after 75 minutes.

An own goal by Forest goalkeeper Lee Camp two minutes from time set up a nervy finale, but the hosts held on to maintain their unbeaten start.

Brighton climbed to fourth place thanks to a Craig Mackail-Smith double in a 3-1 win at Burnley.

Scotland striker Mackail-Smith opened the scoring with a fine strike from the edge of the area and then scored a stunning over-head kick from inside the area in the second half.

Gordon Greer, who earlier scored an own goal, netted the late header that sealed the win for Gus Poyet's side.

Glenn Murray scored twice as Crystal Palace brought Sheffield Wednesday's unbeaten streak to an end with a 2-1 win at Selhurst Park.

The Owls travelled to Selhurst Park looking to stretch their undefeated run to a club-record 20 matches.

But Murray fired Palace ahead after just 30 seconds and secured the victory seven minutes from time after Michail Antonio had equalised.

Murray's winner gave Palace their first points of the season and condemned Dave Jones to his first defeat since becoming Wednesday boss in March.

Hull's new boys helped Steve Bruce's fifth-placed side win 3-1 against Bolton at the KC Stadium.

Sone Aluko, Abdoulaye Faye and Stephen Quinn all found the net for Hull after Chris Eagles' opener for Bolton, who are off to a slow start after last season's relegation.

Elsewhere, Millwall defeated Middlesbrough 3-1, Derby thrashed Watford 5-1 and Birmingham claimed a 1-0 win over Peterborough, who have lost all four of their league matches this season.

Barnsley defeated Bristol City 1-0 and Ipswich drew 2-2 with Huddersfield.
